Church Walk Park

A heritage listed landscape in the centre of Newcastle
Your CBD Oasis

Revival of a 1924 Gem

An urban oasis in the centre of  New South Wales' second city, Church Walk Park is a boon for city workers and residents and an important element in the city's urban canopy.  Fallen on hard times and neglected in recent years, the local community is looking for revival of our park as part of the greening of Newcastle.

Your Park is heritage listed for its European landscape, but also has many native plants...and bush tucker too!

Despite its significance, until recently Church Walk Park had no signage to note the park's existence or history. We've changed that!

With limited support from Local Government, this important park is maintained and weeded by members of the local community.

Church Walk Park was laid out in 1924 and is surrounded by important art deco buildings, all part of a local Conservation Zone.

Church Walk Park has a range of local inhabitants: birds, lizards and invertebrates abound.
